Lecture: Subcultures

All subcultures today will not become mainstream tomorrow. But everything that is mainstream today was a subculture yesterday. The influences underground cultures have on our society can’t be underestimated. Without subcultures there would be no jazz, no pop or urban dance music. Without subcultures no development in art, literature, music or dance. In some cases, subcultural phenomenon even helped push forward democracy.
This is the story of the importance of subcultures in everyday life. The lecture shows examples from several subcultures from the past sixty years.
