Martha Cooper exhibits in Stockholm

Saturday March 18th the exhibition City Play open at Fullersta Gårds konsthall in Stockholm. City Play shows Martha Cooper’s photos from Alphabet City in New York where she started to go in 1977, when she became New York Post’s first female staff photographer.
Martha Cooper documented the children playing in the streets and on abandoned lots and her friendship with them eventually led her to the graffiti writer Dondi and on to a life-long documentation of hip hop culture around the world.
City Play opens at 12 AM. At 2 PM Martha Cooper talks with Dokument Press editor Tobias Barenthin Lindblad about photography, the city and hip hop.
